‘C’ Stock added to LTM collection

Farewell tour driving car saved for posterity.

The London Transport Museum board has decided to accept the withdrawn ‘C’ Stock driving car No. 5721 into its permanent collection. In the words of a museum representative: “It is a major decision to collect something so big and commit to keep it forever.”

‘C’ Stock No. 5721 calls at Aldgate East on June 29, 2014, while forming the type’s farewell railtour – passing one of its replacement ‘S7’ Stock sets on Hammersmith & City Line duties.  James Sutcliffe

The car was saved in 2014 when the ‘C’ Stock was withdrawn from passenger services on the Hammersmith & City and Circle Lines. It was part of the very final train in passenger service and also the farewell railtour on June 29 that year.
