GWR receives first Class 387s

STAFF training has begun on Great Western Railway’s Class 387 EMUs after the first two units arrived on July 28.

GWR Class 387 (no. 387130) stands at platform 11 of London Paddington station after working 5Z85 from North Pole IEP Depot to London Paddington at around 0100 on 29th July 2016. The unit was used for driver training of the Class 387 for future use on the Hayes shuttle and did three return trips from London Paddington to Heathrow Tunnel Junction during the early hours of 29th July before returning to the North Pole IEP Depot.

Europhoenix Type 3 No. 37800 brought Nos. 387130 and 387131 from Bletchley to North Pole depot, West London, and No. 387130 made its first appearance at Paddington in the early hours of the next day. The units are due to enter passenger service on September 5.
