CLASS 50 RARITIES

by

I really enjoyed the Class 50 themed issue (October), especially the shots of their earlier days, but it’s always great to see these machines out on the main line again now. A while ago I bought this slide for my collection, but have few details to go with it. No. 50008 is seemingly hauling a rake of MGR coal wagons, but the ex-works appearance of the loco suggests to me it was more likely a running-in turn of some sorts. The slide is dated March 3, 1986 and is said to be at Wingfield – but I can find no trace of this working on the internet, nor a possible railway location by this name. Can anyone help fill in the details?
