NORTH WALES SIGNALLING UPGRADE

Network Rail has installed new signalling between Shotton and Colwyn Bay as part of the £50 million North Wales upgrade project. The work includes replacing 96 semaphores and other older signals with 54 LED digital signals along with 106 miles of cabling and upgrading the Tyn Y Morfa level crossing to a manually controlled barrier with CCTV. The new Rhyl workstation (pictured) is now in operation at the Wales Railway Operating Centre in Cardiff. As well as new signalling, the North Wales railway upgrade project also includes the installation of new track at Flint, Rhyl, Mostyn and Abergele. The full project is set to be completed by the summer. Network Rail
