Large logo ’37’ comebacks

WITH fitting of its replacement power unit completed, No. 37403 Isle of Mull was collected from Barrow Hill on July 5, Nos. 57303 and 57310 sandwiching it on the journey to Crewe, which included dropping off No. 57312 at Derby.

Large logo Type 3 No. 37424 was named Avro Vulcan XH558 at the DRS open day at Gresty Bridge, Crewe, on July 23 (see also Headline News). The loco carries the number 37558 on its bodysides to match, although it remains No. 37424 on TOPS and carries No. 424 on the nose fronts. Brad Joyce

The 19th brought a morning test run to Chester and back with No. 37716 for insurance before the large logo-liveried machine was tasked with collecting

Nos. 47501 and 47712 from Crewe Diesel and the heritage centre respectively for movement to Gresty Bridge for the following Saturday’s DRS open day. Completing a busy day, No. 37403 then ran light to Kingmoor.
