LAST year, former Northern Line trailer car No. 2044 looked set to be sold to a school and reused as a library.

Enthusiasts sometimes bemoan the alteration of any vehicle, as it typically causes original fixtures and fittings to be lost.

But reusing a vehicle does represent an exciting and unique future that ensures its survival, as opposed to possible neglect and the likelihood of going for scrap.
